Works on Hereford Street car park and the Green
Improving local roads
To allow Bristol City Council to carry out highway improvements, some spaces in Hereford Street car park needed to be closed. Nearby car parks, including Little Paradise, Sheene Road and Diamond Street, remain available to use.
Extensive work is needed to realign Malago Road, redirect utilities such as gas, electricity, telecoms, water and drainage, and install pipework for the district heat network, while still allowing one-way traffic. These improvements are part of the wider regeneration of Bedminster Green and will make it easier for people to walk, cycle and use public transport. Completion of the roadworks will take place by the end of August 2024.
No trees will be removed as part of these works and all possible steps have been taken to prevent any damage to the trees, including ground and root protection, in line with recommended best practice.
The green will be returned to its original condition when the work has been completed.
To report any issues with the traffic management around Bedminster Green, please email eastbedminster@bristol.gov.uk or phone ETM Traffic Management on 0117 953 3654.
Building a low carbon Bristol
Vattenfall Heat UK are working on Bedminster Green until mid-April 2024.
They are carrying out short-term work to install new valves on an existing stretch of buried pipework. This will contribute to the upgrading of the existing pipework in Malago Road and will enable the supply of low carbon heat to two new developments.
Please be assured, no trees will be removed as part of these works. Tree protection measures, including ground protection and root protection, are being used in line with recommended best practice. The green will be returned to its original condition on completion of the works.
