Share Bristol grant funded to pilot Community Hub activities at East Street Library of Things

Share Bristol have received grant funding to pilot activities from their space on East Street. The Bedminster Library of Things will soon be home to a Community Hub, offering a range of activities and resources for young people and adults.

The Community Hub is one of the activities being delivered as part of the City Centre and High Streets Programme, funded by Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority, and has already resulted in Share Bristol being able to extend their opening hours in Bedminster on Mondays to 5pm to 8pm.

Earlier this year key community stakeholders came together to develop a vision for community led and community owned spaces ready for when spaces become available along the high street. Funding Share Bristol to pilot activities will help inform this vision about what works for East Street.

Share Bristol’s next steps involve recruiting a Community Hub Coordinator to manage all the activities that will take place, and to collaborate with local organisations to deliver a wide variety of activities from the new Community Hub.

Anna Perry, trustee at Share Bristol, said: ‘Our vision is that everybody shares, and we hope that our new Community Hub at Share Bristol Bedminster we will bring greater awareness to the Library of Things movement and encourage more people to join our community and start sharing. The many activities that will be on offer will involve our key ethos of sharing with your community (including some of our Things to Borrow), resources, skills, ideas along with residents having a good time together.’

If you would like to get involved, as the new Community Hub Coordinator, as an organisation who would like to deliver activities from the Hub, or as a volunteer, then please email Share Bristol at hello@sharebristol.org.uk.
