Welcome to Bedminster Green
Bedminster Green will be a thriving new neighbourhood in the heart of South Bristol.
The five development sites will collectively bring around 3,500 new residents to the area to live on the doorstep of East Street, helping to boost the economy of Bristol’s oldest high street and its ecosystem of proudly independent businesses.
New bus, cycling and walking routes will connect the area to South Bristol and beyond making it easier to travel in and through the area, as well as enhancing connections to Bedminster Station. This will include routes along the newly restored River Malago, bought up from underground channels to create a new accessible amphitheatre style seating area for all to enjoy.
A well-connected community
The Bedminster Green framework sets out guidance for creating a high-quality environment for walking and cycling. Introducing more people to the area, served by good public transport and active travel provision, will support local facilities and amenities.
A strong and active route between Windmill Hill, Bedminster station and East Street will underpin the neighbourhood. This principal connection will be complemented by a variety of pedestrian and cycle routes that form an integral part of the new neighbourhood to connect to routes beyond Bedminster Green, including to the city centre and Temple Quarter.
Investing in arts, culture, and community spaces
The Bedminster Green team is working to support the development of community spaces and community organisations in the area. We are working alongside Action Greater Bedminster, Windmill Hill City Farm, Bedminster Business Improvement District and others to explore opening up new community spaces and support existing spaces and organisations to thrive.
We are also working with Platform Places and local partners to establish an East Street Property Partnership to help encourage a thriving ecosystem of independent community businesses on East Street through fairer and more affordable access to property.
