Bedminster Green partners support Bedminster Lantern Parade to come to East Street

The Bedminster Lantern Parade returned to BS3 this year following cancellation of the parade in 2024, thanks in part to generous donations made by Dandara Living and the University of Bristol.

The funds donated helped with the cost of organising the famous annual parade and were also used to pay for professional artists to work with every school in the BS3 area to create their own lanterns.

For the first time this year, the parade route was adapted to pass along East Street to include the new residents of Bedminster Green and the surrounding areas.

Organisers said they want to “bring the new community into the old, and to make sure that we integrate and welcome the new people into Bedminster and the BS3 area”.

University of Bristol’s Metal Works accommodation building on Dalby Avenue is the first of the Bedminster Green sites to take in new residents. The development is occupied by just over 800 students who are already making the area their home.

Dandara Living are in the final stages of construction on their Stafford Yard development and tenants are expected to move in in Spring 2025.

Zoe Sharpe, Senior Development Manager, Dandara Living. said: “We are delighted to have once again worked with the amazing team at Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade, which was back bigger and better than ever. We’re very pleased to be supporting this wonderful initiative which saw hundreds of hand-made lanterns lighting up the streets around Bedminster. Thousands turned out to see this much-loved local community event, along the new route that took participants parallel to our Stafford Yard development in Bedminster Green.”
