Vattenfall begins installation of the Bedminster Heat Network at Windmill Hill City Farm

Vattenfall has begun work to install buried pipework through the perimeter of Windmill Hill City Farm (via the allotments) to join them to existing networks at the Whitehouse Lane/Philip Street junction and in Whitehouse Lane.

Farm management and allotment plot owners were consulted on these works and the farm will remain open as usual for visitors.

For works within the road, there is ongoing coordination to make sure disruption is kept to a minimum.

Construction within the Windmill Hill City Farm boundary will be concluded by the end of March 2025 and Vattenfall is working with all partners to make sure disruption to the farm, its visitors, local residents, and those travelling through the area is kept to a minimum.

Vattenfall has agreed a package of upgrades for the farm including the opportunity to connect to the network when appropriate, resurfacing of vehicle path, improved entrance gates, enhanced walkways to improve accessibility and the replacement of fencing around the farm. This will be done once the construction is finished in March 2025.

In partnership with Dandara Living, an upgraded and expanded cow shelter and fenced outdoor area, and a new set of equipment has been gifted to accommodate the cows during the winter months and to make sure the veterinary team can deliver any care needed to the animals.
