Recovery and Renewal Works Begin on East Street

The ‘Recovery and Renewal’ project, which is part of Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority’s ‘Love our High Streets’ project, will see the cleansing and refresh of the pocket parks on East Street to increase versatility for the residents, traders and the wider community.

This includes a new planting scheme, set in circular steel planters, which will be in place for spring and a series of ‘play on the way’ will create obstacles for children to play on. Paths through the area will be better connected, lines of sight improved and green spaces emphasised.

To enable these upgrades some of the existing street furniture will be removed, including existing planters and wooden benches. All efforts are being taken to keep noise to a minimum and the plants that have been removed will be donated to local schools and community groups.

The changes are being managed by the Bedminster Town Team and are expected to be completed by April. Further works will take place to remove the Pocket Park on Mill Lane in April.

Any access diversions are being clearly signposted in line with all necessary traffic management requirements to ensure routes are not blocked for pedestrians and vehicles. Local traders and residents have been forewarned of the works. All efforts are being made to keep noise to a minimum and areas free of debris.

Bins and street furniture block access on a side street.
